Oʻahu is such an incredible place for a wedding because it offers so much variety in one island, oceanfront estates, historic venues, tropical gardens, mountains, beaches, and beautiful resort settings all within reach.
As an Oahu wedding photographer, I’ve photographed weddings and couples throughout the island at a variety of venues and locations, and I love how different every celebration can feel depending on the setting.
My photography is natural, joyful, and documentary-inspired, with a focus on capturing the real feeling of the day while also creating beautiful, timeless portraits.
Oʻahu is one of the most versatile places in Hawaiʻi for a destination wedding.
You can choose a private estate on the North Shore, an elegant historic venue near Honolulu, a luxury resort, city vibe, a quiet beach, or a lush tropical setting surrounded by mountains and palms.
It is also one of the easiest Hawaiian islands for guests to travel to, with more flights, hotels, restaurants, and activities than the other island. That combination of beauty and convenience makes Oʻahu a really wonderful option.
I’ve photographed at a number of beautiful venues throughout Oʻahu, and each has a completely different feeling. Below are a few of the venues I’ve photographed at on Oahu and photo galleries from each.
La Pietra is one of the most elegant and unique wedding venues on Oʻahu. The historic estate, architecture, gardens, and proximity to Diamond Head give it such a timeless and romantic feel.

Loulu Palm is a private North Shore venue surrounded by tropical greenery and ocean views. It feels relaxed, intimate, and very Hawaiian, while still offering a beautifully designed space for a full wedding celebration.

Charming Estate is a beautiful private wedding venue on a golf course with lush tropical grounds, mountain views, and an intimate, relaxed feel. It’s a lovely option for couples who want something private and romantic while still feeling very connected to the natural beauty of the island.

Kualoa Ranch is one of the most iconic wedding locations on Oʻahu, with dramatic green mountains, expansive valley views, and an incredible sense of place. It’s especially beautiful for couples who want their wedding photographs to feel cinematic, adventurous, and unmistakably Hawaiʻi.
There are also beautiful resorts, private estates, gardens, and beachfront locations throughout the island, so the best venue really depends on the feeling you want for your wedding.

One of the biggest things to consider when planning a wedding on Oʻahu is location.
The island is busier than any other Hawaiian island, so where you stay, where your ceremony takes place, and where your reception is located can all affect your timeline. Traffic between Honolulu and the North Shore can be significant, so I always recommend building extra time into the day rather than creating a schedule that feels rushed.
Light is another important consideration. If portraits are a priority, I usually recommend planning your ceremony and timeline around the best natural light rather than treating photography as an afterthought.
And because weather can vary between different parts of the island, it’s helpful to choose a venue and backup plan that work well together.
I want you to be able to enjoy your wedding day without feeling like you are constantly stopping to take photos.
I photograph the real moments as they unfold, the energy, movement, emotion, family, friends, and little things happening around you, while also stepping in when needed to direct and create beautiful portraits and keep things moving smoothly.
I also love incorporating the landscape into the photographs. If you choose Hawaiʻi for your wedding, I think the scenery should become part of the story.
For popular dates and venues, I recommend reaching out as early as possible, especially if you’re planning during a busy wedding season. That gives us more flexibility with timing and planning.
The most flattering natural light is usually later in the afternoon and around sunset, but the best timing depends on your venue, ceremony location, season, and overall timeline.
