The Olowalu Plantation House is one of Maui’s most extraordinary, popular, and simply perfect venues for your wedding on Maui. It is situated right on the oceanfront in Olowalu, which is conveniently located on the way to west Maui.
The house was built in 1922 in classic and charming Hawaii plantation style, with high ceilings and a large lanai that overlooks expansive views of the ocean, sunset, and islands in the distance. The interior of the house has been remodeled with modern touches and comfortably hosts your wedding day. There is a room for the bride to get ready in, another for the bridesmaids, and a groom space as well.
In addition to the spectacular ocean views, the property boasts a few incredibly large and old trees, and the landscape around the house is tropical and lush. There is also an old “pier” which is part of the property, and takes your right out over the ocean. Most couples will walk out to the pier for their sunset newlywed photos, and from there, you can also see the incredible west Maui mountains in the background, it’s truly one of a kind, and perfect for photos.
Like most private venues on Maui, you cannot rent the house overnight, but you can arrive on the property in the morning to get ready, or if you get ready off site, they have an afternoon rental that works well for many couples. The morning rental is from 10AM-10PM, and the afternoon rental is from 2PM-10PM.
I have photographed many many weddings at this stunning Hawaii wedding venue. If you would like to hear more about it, feel free to contact us to chat about it and anything else for your wedding day on Maui.
What’s amazing about his venue is that it can feel intimate for a group of around 20 or is large enough to accommodate a group of 200, the best size group for this venue is about 40-75. There are “pavers” in front of the house, which separate the lawn area and make space where a smaller group can be set up. Also, with the right table arrangement you can make the space feel more intimate.
There are a few options when it comes to renting the venue, it mainly depends on your guest count and day of the week but pricing begins at $9,000 for a weekday 2-10PM rental.
Yes, an approved wedding planner is required at the venue. They will assist with planning the whole day, and hiring all the other wedding vendors.
This venue’s location has some of the best weather on Maui year-round. It is often blocked by the trade winds from the west Maui mountains, and is located on the west side of the island which receives almost no rain throughout the year. Most couples will forgo using a tent for their outdoor reception.
The venue is located in Olowalu, which is on the way to the Lahaina and the west side. It is about 20-30 minutes from most towns on the west side including Lahaina, Ka’anapali, Napili, and Kapalua and about 45-60 minutes from Kihei and Wailea. It’s easily accessible and convenient for people staying on both the west and south sides of the island.
The venue includes the house rental, which has a kitchen for caterers, bathrooms, outdoor guest bathrooms, the pavers and lawn in front, parking, and use of the pier in front for sunset photos. Apart from what is inside the house and on the lanai, no rentals are included with the venue.
There is a guest parking lot, and overflow parking which can fit about 30+ vehicles. It is also easily accessible by shuttles which drop guests off right at the entrance from the roundabout.
