The Maui Pineapple Chapel is a beautiful choice if you’re looking for historic charm, ocean-view gardens, and the flexibility to host anything from an intimate gathering to a grand celebration.  I have photographed and worked at many weddings at the Pineapple Chapel, and below is my experience with it.

If it’s timeless architecture, coastal cliffside views, and lush Hawai‘i landscaping you’re dreaming of, then this venue should be on your list. From its restored chapel interior to its expansive outdoor lawns, this location blends classic Maui beauty with a number of outdoor lawn spaces you can use.

Inside the chapel you’ll find a historic building updated with modern amenities, bright natural light, warm wooden floors, and versatile space perfect for both ceremony and reception. Outside, the Mau’u Terrace and Makai Lawn overlook the Pacific Ocean, offering breathtaking panoramas for your vows or a sunset cocktail hour.

I love how this venue combines indoor comfort with outdoor coastal scenery, making it easy to transition from ceremony to reception without sacrificing views or guest experience. Whether your celebration is intimate or grand, the spaces flow beautifully from one to the next.

The chapel is situated in Kapalua (West Maui), perched above Ironwoods and just minutes from scenic beaches, cliffside photo spots, and gorgeous sunset vantage points.

This venue is undergoing some changes in the lease, so double check who you need to contact to book it for your day but I believe it’s going to be managed by the Ritz Carton from 2027.

1. Is it too big for a small wedding?

Not at all, this venue is highly adaptable. It works beautifully for small intimate ceremonies and can scale up to host up to 500 guests on the lawn or terrace.

2. What is the cost?

Pricing varies by package, ceremony-only starts around $1,500, ceremony + reception up to 30 guests around $3,500, up to 80 guests- $4,000, and up to 500 guests- $5,000 (including parking attendant for larger events).

3. Is a wedding planner required?

For events over 50 guests, a professional planner is requested to help manage the day smoothly. The venue can share a list of preferred planners and vendors.

4. What is the weather like?

West Maui typically enjoys sunny, warm weather with spectacular sunset conditions, perfect for outdoor celebrations and photographing those coastal views. Kapalua often has some of the best conditions for west-side sunsets.  It can be breezy as it’s close to the coastline and cliffs, it keeps the temperatures cooler but just be sure you’re prepared.

5. Is it conveniently located?

Maui Pineapple Chapel is in Kapalua (West Maui), which is about 20–30 minutes from Ka’anapali/ Lahaina and well positioned for guests staying anywhere in West Maui.

6. What is included?

Typical inclusions vary by package, but often include access to the Chapel, Mau’u Terrace, and Makai Lawn, parking availability (more with attendants for larger groups), and full venue access for your event time. Some options also include the indoor climate-controlled space and lawn areas for receptions.

7. Is there guest parking?

Yes, there’s on-site parking. For larger guest counts, attendants or additional parking coordination (like valet services) may be recommended.
