Hāna-Maui Resort is one of the most spectacular choices for a wedding venue on Maui. As a Maui wedding photographer, I can say firsthand that it is an incredibly special place to photograph. It feels quiet, serene, private, and luxurious, with some of the most beautiful natural scenery on the island.
What makes it so unique is how removed it feels from the rest of Maui. The property is surrounded by lush tropical greenery, dramatic coastline, and wide open ocean views, and the entire experience feels peaceful and intimate in a way that is very hard to find at a larger resort. Spread across 75 acres in Hāna, the resort is surrounded by lush greenery, dramatic coastline, huge ocean views, and some of the most beautiful scenery on Maui.
There are several ceremony locations throughout the property, including the Ocean Bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Kauʻiki Hill and ʻĀlau Island, the tropical Kauʻiki Lawn beneath a large banyan tree, and the private Guest House Lawn surrounded by palms and lush greenery.
One of the things I loved most about photographing a wedding here was just how incredible the property is for photos. There are so many beautiful backgrounds without ever needing to leave the resort. You have tropical greenery, palm trees, sweeping lawns, dramatic ocean views, beautiful architecture, and the wild natural landscape of East Maui all in one place.
The light and scenery feel very different from the drier resort areas of Wailea. Everything feels softer, greener, moodier, and more lush, which creates really beautiful photographs.
It also feels incredibly private. Even though it is a resort, it doesn’t have the busy, crowded feeling that some larger properties can have. The entire experience feels peaceful and intimate, which I think is one of the biggest reasons to choose Hāna-Maui Resort.
Hāna-Maui Resort is located at the end of the Road to Hāna on Maui’s eastern coastline. It is definitely more remote than Maui’s Wailea and Kapalua wedding venues, but that is also a huge part of what makes it so special. Couples can really make a destination experience out of it, with guests staying together and enjoying Hāna over several days.

Hāna-Maui Resort is loved by couples because it is one of those places where the wedding itself feels like a true getaway. Couples and guests can stay on property, slow down, enjoy Hāna, and turn the wedding into an entire experience rather than just a single day.
From a photography perspective, it is also one of the most beautiful Maui wedding venues I have photographed. The property gives you an incredible amount of variety while still keeping everything convenient and close together.
Not at all. Hāna-Maui Resort is actually a beautiful option for intimate weddings and smaller guest counts. The property is large, but because it is so spread out and peaceful, smaller weddings still feel intimate and private rather than lost within a huge resort. There are also several smaller event spaces and ceremony locations that work really well for more intimate celebrations and elopements.
Wedding pricing at Hāna-Maui Resort varies depending on the ceremony and reception locations, guest count, food and beverage, accommodations, and the overall wedding experience. The resort lists individual venue pricing for some of its smaller event spaces, but I recommend contacting the wedding and events team directly for current wedding pricing, food and beverage minimums, and package information.
Yes, for a wedding in Hāna, I would definitely recommend working with a professional Maui wedding planner. Because Hāna is more remote, transportation, rentals, vendors, accommodations, weather, and logistics take a little more planning than a wedding in Wailea or another resort area.
Hāna is lush and tropical, which means the weather can be very different from the drier areas of South Maui. Passing rain showers are common, but they are also part of what makes Hāna so green and beautiful. For any outdoor wedding in Hāna, I would have a clear rain plan, but I also wouldn’t be afraid of a little weather. It is part of what gives this side of Maui its incredible atmosphere.
Hāna-Maui Resort is more remote than most Maui wedding venues. It is located in Hāna on Maui’s eastern coastline at the end of the famous Road to Hāna. That remoteness is part of the appeal.
I would recommend that wedding guests stay in Hāna rather than trying to drive back to Wailea, Kāʻanapali, or another area of Maui after the wedding. It makes the entire experience much more relaxing and allows everyone to really enjoy the destination. Guests can drive the Road to Hāna or fly into Hāna Airport and arrange transportation to the resort.
Hāna-Maui Resort offers multiple ceremony and reception locations throughout the property along with on-site accommodations, dining, bar service, private dining options, a spa, pools, and resort activities. Wedding packages and exact inclusions vary, so you should contact the resort directly to confirm current venue rental inclusions, food and beverage requirements, rentals, staffing, and other wedding services.
Yes, Hāna-Maui Resort offers parking on property. For larger weddings or guests coming in specifically for the event, I recommend confirming current wedding parking and transportation arrangements directly with the resort.
